Who we are

Charlotte Pride Football Club (CPFC) is more than just a soccer league — we’re a community.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization in North Carolina, we provide a space where LGBTQ+ players and allies can play, connect, thrive, and belong. Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned player, there’s a place for you here.

Mission

We believe soccer should be for everyone. Our mission is to create an inclusive, supportive, and competitive environment where LGBTQ+ athletes and allies can enjoy the game, build friendships, and strengthen community through sport.

Purpose

Charlotte Pride FC isn’t just about soccer—it’s about representation, visibility, and belonging. We want everyone to be fierce on the field, and fabulous off of it.

We exist to:

Break barriers in sports for LGBTQ+ players
Create a safe and welcoming space to play and grow
Foster community both on and off the field

Our history

What started as an idea in 2017 became a full-blown movement in 2023.

2017: Andrew Brian launched Kween City Soccer, starting the Facebook page and name.
2018: Nick Stark partnered with Stonewall sports to get a soccer league started, and was put into contact with Andrew. Ultimately, not enough players were able to commit to soccer at that time.
2018 - 2023: New Charlotte residents would reach out through the Kween City Soccer page about playing soccer, and eventually, enough players were interested to organize the first pickup practice in 2023.
Summer 2023: The first Kween City Soccer practice was held at Cordelia Park with just six players.
Fall 2023: The group grew to 30 players and moved practices to Nevin Park.
Winter 2024: Two teams were sent to play in an indoor winter league, sparking the first competitive league play.
Spring 2024: We launched our own LGBTQ+ league with support from Stonewall Sports.
Summer 2024: We rebranded as Charlotte Pride FC to be more inclusive and focused on our broader community.
Fall 2024: We formally incorporated as a 501(c)3 non profit to be able to better support our players and community through partnerships and sponsorships. The community has grown to 100+ players and supporters. We have many volunteers who help lead the organization.
2025 Forward: Still kickin’, still queer, and now with even cuter jerseys. We're building something special – come be a part of it!

🏃 Sunday Practices – Free, all-skill-level practices with drills and scrimmages
